- Description
- The Office of Justice Programs(OJP), National Institute of Justice(NIJ) attends to award on a sole source basis a purchase order to Dr. Gerald Gaes, 13505 Ivy Way, Bowie, Maryland for consulting services. In accordance with the Administration?s emphasis on improving the performance of Federal research and development activities, NIJ requires a liaison with the correction?s community to develop the highest-priority needs of the field for research and development and to elicit valuable feedback about the utility of NIJ?s products. Dr. Gaes will provide strategic advice and analyze the scope, quality, past performance, and the future direction on NIJ?s corrections research portfolios. During 2003, he served as a technical advisor to NIJ and has played a key role in the development of research designs and methodologies for such high priority projects as the National Evaluation of the Serious and Violent Offender Reentry Initiative and the National Drug Court Evaluation. Dr. Gaes has served as the Director of Research at the Federal Bureau of Prisons for more than 14 years. Dr. Gaes is widely published in respected professional journals, including The Prison Journal, Federal Probation, Corrections Management Quarterly, Journal of Prison and Jail Health, Punishment & Society, Criminology and Public Policy, Criminal Justice Review, and the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology. In addition to the numerous articles, he has written several chapters of authoritative textbooks and presented many papers at influential professional conferences, workshops and seminars Dr. Gaes, is an internationally known research expert on corrections and has a combination of expertise, experience, academic training, and numerous contacts in the corrections field that make him uniquely qualified to perform the required services for NIJ.
