- Description
- The U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development, and Engineering Center, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama is seeking sources of information on current or near term UAV technologies that can support US Army operations. The objective is to locate p otential UAV systems capable of supporting operations associated with Army maneuver units. This system must be capable of being deployed to provide battlefield situational awareness to the commander. The overall footprint of the system, including launch and recovery is limited to a 100-meter diameter clearing with 10-meter obstacles at its perimeter; operating within a smaller footprint is more advantageous. The baseline requirements of the UAV System are as follows: provide a UAV system consisting of 3 air vehicles, controller and support equipment capable of being carried by a US Army High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (M998) HMMWV; capable of at least 2 hours of flight; support operations out to a range of 10 ?????? 15 kms; air vehicle weight up to 50 lbs; air vehicle fuel requirements are electric, gas, or heavy fuel; payload must be capable of night operations; flight ceiling 500 ?????? 1000 AGL; P Code GPS and military communications frequency spectrum. Interested Contractors/Vendors are asked to submit video and white papers, not to exceed to 10 pages, containing a description of the technologies that they possess, or are conducting, which have potential application to this project. Responses should also include a brief summary of experience in this technical field, maturity of the system (RD, Production, Fielded etc.) cost and production capability, and production schedule. In addition contractors/vendors will be required to conduct a proof of concept f light demonstration of their systems at a government provided range at their own expense. The government will sponsor a test range for evaluation. Those participating will assume all other expenses. Responding vendors should provide information regardin g this announcement to (name, office, address, telephone, fax, and e-mail) before April 9, 2004. Technical questions may be addressed to Mr. Tom Yost, U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Research Development and Engineering Center, Advanced Systems Directorate , Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, 35898.
