Description
RFI: Omni-directional Miniature Ferrite Antenna Request for Information-Omni-directional Miniature Ferrite Antenna - DUE: 16 April 2004. The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center - Charleston (SSC-CH) is seeking information on all available commercial, off-the-shelf (COTS) miniature omni-directional antenna for man-wearable applications and handheld radios. SSC-CH is only interested antennas that are currently available as COTS, or easily adaptable by May 2004. Determination as to its suitability will be made by SSC-CH based on the objectives of this request. The purpose of this announcement is to begin evaluation of miniature omni-directional antenna for use in various military systems. Antennas should meet the following specifications: Manufacturable frequency range of 30Mhz to 3GHz with an instantaneous bandwidth of no less than 20MHz around a center frequency. An example of a performance at a center frequency of 410MHz is: Nominal Impedance 50 ohms, VSWR 1.5:1 typical, Gain (@ 0 degrees elevation) 0 dBi, Gain (@ 15 degrees elevation) 0 dBi, Radiation Pattern Horizontal Plane Isotropic, Connector type SMA (Optional), Weight 7g, Overall Length 23mm, base diameter 17 mm, waterproof. Smith Chart and Gain plot are available on request.All information received will be treated as public knowledge; therefore, vendors should not submit proprietary information in response to this Request for Information (RFI.) Specific information sought includes: (1) size of antenna; (2) Smith chart of antenna coverage; (3) frequency range; (4) frequency gain. Diagrams, drawings and graphics that would assist the user in understanding the radiation pattern should be submitted. This announcement is for information gathering purposes. Submittals: Respondents are welcome to provide information in the form of product brochures, press releases, technical specification sheets, independent assessment results, reprints of trade journal articles, etc, although electronic media are preferred (CD, diskette, or internet link). Submissions should include pertinent company information, including contact person, phone number, and fax number and e-mail address.
