Description
The U.S. Research, Development and Engineering Command, (RDECOM) ?Armament, Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC), Picatinny, New Jersey, 07806-5000, is currently seeking qualified sources with the capability of providing Optical Aiming Devices for Small Caliber Weapons. This effort will provide improved capability for the M68 Close Combat Optic, which is a unity power red dot sight. The main objective is to provide a 2X to 3X image magnification while maintaining the red dot at minimal size to preclude interference with the gunner?s aiming capability. Items to be considered for this evaluation are those of a non-development nature that is capable of withstanding exposure to harsh military environments and rough handling, without degradation of performance. This effort is part of a Foreign Comparative Testing exercise. It is expected that the testing will commence in the first quarter of FY05. Both foreign and domestic sources are invited to respond. Interested firms should submit literature/brochures not exceeding twenty (20) pages describing their technical capabilities, specifications, and specifically address the requirement listed above in response to the aforementioned criteria. This is a market survey not a pre-solicitation notice. There is no formal solicitation available at this time. If a formal solicitation is generated at a later date, a solicitation notice will be published. No award will be made as a result of this market survey. All information is to be submitted at no cost or obligation to the Government. The Government reserves the right to reject, in whole or in part, any private sector input as a result of this market survey.
