Description
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial services prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; propos als are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial services prepared in accordance with FAR 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. DAU has a s eries of repairs and improvements to several buildings at the Defense Acquisition University Fort Belvoir campus as follows: 1. Handicap access and support issues (a) Install pushbuttons that meet ADA standards for the following bathrooms and are similar t o the exterior door handicap push button access capability: First floor bathrooms in buildings 202, 204, 205, 206, 207, 208, and 209. (b) Install a new threshold between the hallway and the bathroom in order to allow smooth entry by a wheelchair in all of the bathrooms as noted above. (c) Install a handicap rail in the large, handicap bathroom stall in building 208 1st floor mens room. 2. Replace the following external building doors with similar solid core wood doors. Each will have a glass opening for eye-level viewing. The area of the glass will not be less or greater than 10 percent f the current glass area: (a) all 2nd floor fire exit doors for buildings 202, 204, 205, 207, and 209 (b) two external doors for the Waelchli Room (only the door on the n orth side facing building 205 should have a glass area); (c) The single door leading into the storage area at the west end of building 208 (this door will not have a glass area); (d) Replace the frame and door on the north side for building 219, Essayons T heater. 3. Replace the following external doors with new metal doors (all doors will have a glass viewing area except where noted): (a) the single door at the east end of building 205 that leads out from the Wellness Center; also the frame must be replac ed on this door; (b) Door at the west end of building 206 from the maintenance area; (c) both ends of buildings 204, 207, and 209. 4. Install a metal louvered door in the open door area on the west side of building 226. 5. All doors will be paid using one coat pro primer and two (2) finishing coats. 6. Building 226 bathrooms: (a) First floor mens room: (i) Remove the wall between the bathroom and room 101 and install a new wall that expands the bathroom up to the left edge of the window in room 101. A lso remove the wall between room 101 and 102 and adjust all areas to make one large office area. The current door leading into room 101 will be removed and a wall will be constructed to match existing wall. Contractor will utilize carpet provided by DAU t o fill carpet patch areas created by the wall removal. (ii) Install new wall tile using the building 209 first floor bathroom as a baseline. The height of the tile should also be similar to building 209. The government POC prior to installation will sele ct color. (iii) Paint all wall area above the new tile and all ceiling areas. Color TBD. (iv) Install one each new paper towel dispenser, trash container, and soap pump dispensers. The paper towel and trash containers will be installed internal and flush with the plan of the wall. The soap dispenser will be part of the new vanity. (v) Replace the existing ceiling and vanity lights and install two additional ceiling fixtures. Specific lighting will be designated during the contractor proposal walkthroug h; (vi) Install four new urinals and new non-metal dividers between each of the urinals on the wall adjacent to the hallway. Add 2 commodes/stalls and install the total of four (4) stalls on the outside exterior wall at the end of the bathroom away from t he entry door; (vii) Install a new vanity with 2 sinks and mirror similar to the vanity in the first floor building 205 ladies room. The mirror should cover an area as wide as the vanity/sink area. The new vanity area will be the current location of the urinals. (b) First floor ladies room (i) Replicate 6 (a)(ii-v) and (vii) (ii) Eliminate the three sinks on the wall with the stalls; (iii) Install two additional stalls adjacent to the existing stalls. (c) Second floor bathrooms (i) Implement all common improvement noted in 6 (a) (ii-v) and (vii); (ii) Add two urinals to the me ns room by removing the sinks on the same wall as existing urinals. (d) Each of the four doors from the hallway into the bathrooms will be replaced with a similar solid wood core door; the finish will be matched to the other hallway office doors. The 1st floor mens room door will be changed to open from the opposite direction. (e) All electrical switches and outlets will be moved to accommodate the changes in each bathroom. (Specifications for paint-exterior super white 27100-interior bathrooms designer white 18012-McCormick Paints. Please note that a sample of the required push button will be pointed out to prospective bidders during the walkthrough. Finally, please add a general note that detailed requirements will be addressed, and samples of existing fittings, trim, and facilities will be displayed, during the walkthrough which will be on 7 April 2004 at 0800 meeting in Bldg 202, Room 110.
