Description
Work to be performed under this contract consists of the complete removal of an existing dry-laid stone retaining wall, the adjacent existing roadbed and embankment and construction of a new roadbed and retaining wall using a post and panel structure . The nature of the work requires that the contractor be able to drill large diameter holes into existing bedrock for the foundation of the new wall. The placement of the panels will require that the contractor transport the panels from a nearby storage area to the jobsite as well as place the panels in the wall. Concrete is required for footings and wall closure pours. The contract also requires placement of a new storm drainage system along the road, including new catch basins and new HDPE storm sewer pipe. Additionally, a box culvert will be installed to allow a tributary branch of the creek to reach the stream. A new bridge will be constructed across the stream. The existing wall is approximately 600 feet long and is located along Basket Creek jus t north of the Delaware/Sullivan County line near the Town of Hancock, NY. The project will require dewatering of a portion of the stream during the construction period. No long-term manipulation of flow will occur. The stream will be returned to its cu rrent configuration upon completion of the project. No construction equipment shall be placed into the stream. The Invitation for Bid (IFB) documents will be available on the Internet Web page on or about 15 April 2004 and hard copies will not be availab le. No written or fax requests will be accepted. Contractors shall download this IFB (including drawings) and all amendments (including drawings) and all amendments from the Internet Web page at the following address: https://ebs.nap.usace.army.mil on o r after issue date of the IFB. The official media of distribution for the IFB is the Internet Web page. All amendments to this IFB will be posted to the Internet Web page at the above address. Hard copies of the amendments will not be furnished. It is the contractors responsibility to monitor the web page for any amendments. Interested contractors must register on the Internet Web page. If any of the contractors information changes during the advertisement period, contractors are responsible to make c hanges to their user profile on the Internet Web page. Failure to make changes in their user profile may cause a delay in receiving notification of the IFB and amendments. Contractors are responsible for printing copies of the IFB including any drawings and amendments. Bids will be opened on or about 18 May 2004 at 11:00 a.m. The NAICS Code is 237990 with a size standard of $28.5 million. The estimated range of the project is $1,000,000.00 to $5,000,000.00 and bonding is required. All contractors must be registered in the DoDs Central Contract Register (CCR) database before award as required by DFARS 204.7300.
