- Description
- The National Cancer Institute on behalf of the National Institutes of Neurological Disorder and Stroke (NINDS), Mouse Imaging Facility (MIF) intends on entering into a sole source contract with Medrad, Inc., One Medrad Drive, Indianola, PA 15051 for the purchase of a Multi-gas Monitor with accessories. The MIF mission is to expand its shared resource facility with replacement of an existing BCI 9100 Multigas Monitor with an advanced MR-compatible Medrad 9500 Multigas Monitor. The NINDS requires a system that is capable of reaching the highest reliability for in vivo physiological monitoring of large and small animals and provide animal surgery/catheterization labs for supporting animal research in the magnet environment. The NINDS/MIF main objective is to develop the use of MR imaging that can non-invasively study laboratory animals and provide proof that the animal is in normal state and not experiencing pain or distress. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 1) pulse oximetry, NIBP, ECG monitoring, capnography, anesthetic agent monitoring, respiratory and cardiac gating, invasive pressure levels, printing and remote control display. Alarms, alerts and battery charging must be indicated. Specific requirements of the Multi-gas monitoring system shall provide for but are limited to the following: 1) non-invasive blood pressure, ECG, end tidal CO2, 2) Backlit LED indicators, electroluminescent with a resolution of 640 x 200 and a viewing area of 19 x 12 cm, 3) operate by 115VAC, 4) equipped serial port available to provide connection to printer/computer and 5) fiber optic technology to ensure patient safety from RF burns as well as produce fast and clean ECB readings. Medrad Inc. is the only source known to the NINDS researchers which can provide a system with the above required features. This is not a request for competitive quotation. However, if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirements, it may submit a capabilities statement. The capability statement and any other furnished information must be in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow NINDS to determine if the party can fully meet the requirements. Capability statements must be received in the contracting office by 1:00 P.M. EST, (Local Washington, D.C. time) on April 09, 2004. This requirement is being processed based on FAR Part 12 acquisition of commercial items. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received shall be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No collect calls will be accepted.
