Description
The Social Security Administration (SSA) requires the services of a contractor to provide medical consultant services as a Regional Chief Medical Advisor. This procurement will be for commercial item services prepared in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 12 and will be conducted using simplified acquisition procedures in accordance with FAR Part 13. Services shall include assisting in the training and mentoring of new medical consultants, providing second reviews on questionable medical cases, providing guidance and training to State Disability Determination Service medical consultants, and the review of medical evidence in disability claims on-site only at 1221 Nevin Avenue, Richmond, CA. There will be no patient contact. Offerors must: (1) have a valid license to practice medicine in the US; and (2) be available for onsite work a minimum of 24 hours per week, at least 3 days per week and for 44 weeks of the calendar year between 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. All potential contractors will be required to pass a security background check before beginning performance on an award. Prospective contractors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration database prior to award of a contract. Competitive pricing will be solicited and accepted. The base period of performance shall be from the date of award through December 31, 2004, with provisions for the inclusion of a one-year option period. The solicitation is scheduled for release on or about April 14, 2004, with proposals due twenty-one (21) days later. This requirement is a 100% small business set aside. The North American Industry Classification System Code is 621111 and the size standard is $8.5M. Proposals received from other than small business concerns will be deemed unacceptable and will be given no further consideration. No telephone requests for the solicitation will be accepted.
