- Description
- The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking information from firms who can provide management, administrative services, and support functions for planning and executing the 2006 National Veterans Wheelchair Games (NVWG) to be held in Anchorage, Alaska during July 2006. The fundamental purpose of the games is to provide physically disabled veterans with an introductory experience in a variety of wheelchair sports and to expose them to the myriad of organized wheelchair sports and recreation activities available nationwide. The NVWG, the nation?s largest annual wheelchair sporting event, will be planned and executed by a Board of Directors composed of local and national VA officials as well as representatives from the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA). The board will advise and set general guidelines in which the successful contractor will operate in accomplishing the requirements of a local organizing committee (LOC), as noted in the NVWG Management Manual. Requirements include such services as arranging meals, transportation, awards distribution, as well as development and coordination of committee structures to support the Games. Fund raising to assist in offsetting costs of the games and volunteer recruitment are inherent functions of this support contract. A designated government representative will provide daily oversight of performance related to the developed timeline for tasks. The Government shall not be responsible for costs incurred in the preparation and/or submission of the templates, comments, or information. If your organization can provide the services sought by VA, please forward a statement of capabilities or marketing literature to Sophia Hurt (049A3C) at the above address or by e-mail. Facsimile transmissions will not be accepted. If you require additional assistance to provide the information sought, please call the Contracting Officer (202) 273-5739. All responses must be received by 12 noon on April 16, 2004.
