- Description
- The U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command, Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ, is conduction a Market Survey to identify potential sources to provide a technology working group that provides objective perspective and develops technology positions related to railgun launcher weaponization as part of a Government and Contractor Integrated Project Team (IPT) working on the Electromagnetic (EM) Gun Technology Maturation and Demonstration Program. The purposes of the group are to evaluate launcher issues facing the IPT and develop a set of technical positions that promote standardization of language and process within the EM railgun launcher field. The group will consider all the technologies necessary for the development of robust railgun launcher subsystem of an EM Weapon, but will place particular focus upon issues relevant to determination and extension of railgun safe service life and launcher weaponization. It is not the intent of the group to investigate issues primarily related to other EM weapon subsystems, including the power supply and launch package (i.e., the bullet). The group is anticipated to convene for approximately ten two-day meetings at various locations throughout the U.S. over a two-year period. A secret level security clearance is desirable. We are seeking sources for two levels of participation: First, organizations interested to oversee and manage the working group must submit clear and concise information that will show a superior understanding of technology management and information dissemination in armament engineering, and EM propulsion. Prior experience in leading working groups on technology challenges that were subsequently surmounted, resulting in type classification of improved weapon systems in highly desirable. This can be demonstrated in the form of publications, existing databases, related experience in working group oversight, documents resulting from prior working groups, and prior contracts successfully completed. Second, individuals and/or organizations interested in participating on the working group must submit clear and concise information detailing their experience, expertise, and recognition of professional stature suitable to demonstrate their credibility to the IPT as well as the extended EM launcher community, if selected to participate in the working group. This can be demonstrated in the form of a two-page resume, publications, patents, professional recognition, and related experience contributing to other successful working groups. This information is to be provided via e-mail to ksage@pica.army.mil or pnickel@pica.army.mil, and received by 16 April 2004. Brochures may be mailed to U.S. Army TACOM ARDEC, AMSTA-AQ-APE, B.10, ATTN: Kathy Sage, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000. This market survey is for information and planning purposes only, and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. It does not constitute a Request for Proposal, and the Government will not reimburse the costs incurred by providing this information. See Numbered Note 25.
