Description
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Tactical Technology Office (TTO) will present an industry briefing on the DARPA Organic Air Vehicle - II (OAV-II) program on 21 April 2004, 0830-1500, Hilton Arlington, Ballston Metro Center, 950 N. Stafford Street, Galley 1 And 2, Arlington, VA 22203. The purpose of the industry day is to introduce the objectives of the forthcoming system development and demonstration solicitation, PS04-01, and to provide information on the currently funded class II payload development efforts being conducted by the Army. The objective of the DARPA OAV-II program is to develop and demonstrate a class II prototype unmanned aerial vehicle. This prototype vehicle is meant to demonstrate a RSTA (reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition) capability for small units within the FCS unit of action. Technology development efforts for funding consideration under PS04-01 to be presented at industry day include, but are not limited to: (1) Integrated ducted fan vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) air vehicles capable of being integrated with the developmental payloads; (2) Collision avoidance technology; (3) Acoustic signature reduction technology; and, (4) Heavy fuel engine technology. A system development, demonstration and payload integration solicitation will be released shortly after the industry day. The OAV-II program will be conducted in a 48 month, three-phased, competitive program with pre-planned go-no go decision points at the end of phases I (PDR) and II (CDR). It is anticipated that this program will continue through government fiscal year 2008 concluding with integration of the air vehicles with class II payloads and non-line-of-sight communications systems, and demonstration of a RSTA capability. All interested industry, educational, and private and government sponsored research and development organizations are invited to attend. Attendance at the industry day is not a prerequisite for submitting a proposal; however, it will provide a valuable opportunity for questions and answers. Total seating is limited to approximately 200 people. DARPA reserves the right to limit attendance to four attendees per organization / business location. The industry day briefing will provide potential offerors information concerning DARPA's technical goals and objectives, outline the acquisition strategy, and receive and attempt to answer relevant questions. In addition, the industry day will include a two hour period for potential collision avoidance technology developers to present their capabilities in an open forum. Pre-registration is required for all attendees. Check in will be from 0730 ? 0830. A registration fee of $50.00 will be collected at the door. Checks should be made payable to STA, Inc; cash will also be accepted. Credit cards will not be accepted. To register, please send email to oavindustryday@darpa.mil not later than 15 April 2004. Include name and organization of each attendee along with telephone numbers, mailing addresses and email addresses. Confirmation will be sent along with points of contact for assistance. Collision avoidance technology developers wishing to display their capabilities in a non-exclusive open forum should indicate their desire to do so in the body of their registration email. All briefings and displays will be unclassified. This industry day is for informational purposes only. Participation is totally voluntary, and the government will not reimburse the attendees for any cost associated with participation and is under no obligation to award any related contract associated with this event. There will be an opportunity to meet individually with Dr. Brad Tousley on Thursday, 22 April at Science and Technology Associates (STA). These meetings will be only 20 minutes long and are intended to clarify questions you have on the program. They are not for marketing proposals. Please contact Karen Martin of STA, Inc. (kmartin@snap.org, (703) 522-5123) (contractor providing assistance with the OAV effort) by 16 April 2004 to schedule an individual session.
