Description

Cultural Resources Inventory and Site Evaluation of the Proposed Moab Face Fuels Treatment project. The objectives of this project are to conduct cultural resources inventory on an estimated 1,342 acres of National Forest; identify and document historic and prehistoric cultural resources; and evaluate historic and prehistoric cultural resources for National Register eligibility. The areas to be inventoried are located in the La Sal Mountains unit of the Moab-Monticello Ranger District, Manti-La Sal National Forest. To accomplish these objectives, the Contractor shall: 1) Conduct cultural resources inventory in accordance with a survey design that has been predetermined by the Forest Service; 2) Identify historic and prehistoric cultural resources; 3) Document historic and prehistoric cultural resources using accepted professional standards and Utah state site forms (IMACS); 4) relocate and evaluate 19 previously recorded and unevaluated cultural resource sites, and, 5) make recommendations regarding site eligibility for listing in the National Register of Historic Places for all newly discovered and previously recorded unevaluated sites. The survey design includes an estimated 985 acres of intensive (complete) survey coverage and 357 acres of sampling transects. Solicitation package will be available 4/20/04.
