Description

The U.S. Department of State, Regional Procurement Support Office and the U.S. Embassy, Panama, are seeking qualified offerors for the construction of a new border post checkpoint facility to be located at the Cruce de Guabala in San Felix, Chiriqui. The project consists of construction of two single story buildings, including some office space. The offices will require split unit air conditioning, hanging fluorescent lighting, and appropriate electrical and telephone outlets. The approximate size of total site is 6,529.60 square meters, with 2,032.52 square meters in enclosed office space and 4,497.08 square meters of vehicular traffic inspection area. The non-enclosed portion/inspection area will include a ramp for off loading merchandise for inspection, as well as a parking area to accommodate oversized vehicles. The project also entails site preparation and civil works to accommodate site utilities, storm drainage and sewage. The solicitation is planned for release to qualified offerors on or about April 20, 2004, with award of a contract in May 2004. It is anticipated that construction will start as soon as possible after contract award, with a performance period of approximately four months from contract execution to substantial completion. The resulting contract type shall be firm-fixed price, and the estimated value of construction is between $100,000.00 and $250,000 (U.S.).
