Description
The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC EOD Directorate has a requirement to develop a laser target aiming and stand-off measurement device. The device shall be easily mountable on all standard service disrupters (PAN, 0.50 CAL, J-ROD, RE-70, and RE-1212) without special attachment and tools. The device must be able to give an indication of the disrupter slug aim point on the target and the standoff distance between the disrupter barrel and the target. The device shall be designed for both manual operation (device mounted on stand alone disrupter and operated manually) and remote robotic operation (device mounted on disrupter which in turn is mounted on a Talon robot and remotely operated). For manual operation, a numeric indicator would give stand-off distance between disrupter and target. A laser or other illuminated device would give the disrupter slug impact point on the target. For robotic operation, the device must have a RS232 connection to send data back to the robot operator control unit using robot existing communication link. A read out or display of disrupter stand-off and aim point must be visible through the robot cameras or displayed on the operator control unit. In addition, the device must conform to the following requirements: 1. Stand-off distance error less than 1 mm at a distance of 10 feet. 2. Compact and light weight 3. Corrosion resistant and weather-proofed. 4. Must be able to withstand repeated disrupter firings without failure. Interested contractors/manufacturers are requested to submit descriptive design/product for evaluation to the government. This is a market survey. Development of this device will be accomplished through a solicitation to be issued in due course. Respond to Donald Chin, AMSRD-AAR-AEX, Picatinny, NJ., E-Mail: echin@pica.army.mil.
