Description
The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District, has a requirement for seismic hazard analysis study at Enid Dam, near Enid in North Central Mississippi. Previously announced as a sole source, a competitive Request for Quotations is now being issued. The scope of work includes the following: Review the design earthquake parameters presently being utilized in the Earthquake Study of Enid Dam in Mississippi to determine if they are still appropriate with present engineering practices. These in clude earthquake acceleration time histories, magnitudes and durations. The earthquake design parameters should be updated to reflect the present state-of-the-art in seismology and the current knowledge of the seismic hazard in the New Madrid region. Rev iew all field and laboratory data including undisturbed samples, SPT, CPT, Geophysical Testing and Field Vane Shear Tests to characterize the soil conditions including stratification of material type, and soil strength of the embankment and foundation of E nid Dam considering previous studies of these materials. The material type that exists in the foundation of the dam and is potentially liquefiable is a silty clay that meets the Chinese criteria for liquefaction of fine-grained soils. The nature and confi guration of these materials are unique in the Mississippi alluvial valley. Develop and/or update the presentation of this data including figures, plates and tables for final documentation of the field and laboratory data. These figures, tables and plates will be utilized in the final Seismic Safety Study Report. This project is estimated to be below simplified acquisition threshold. Complete Scope of Work is outlined in Request for Quotations W912EE-04-T-0029, available at: http://www.mvk.usace.army.mil/contract/AdvertisedSolicitations.asp . Questions regarding this notice should be addressed to Laurie Bagby, phone (601)631-7901 or e-mail Laurie.A.Bagby@MVK02.usace.army.mil .
