Description
The Government has a requirement for a fishing vessel to conduct five 4-day midwater to near surface trawl surveys of juvenile fishes off Newport, OR starting in June 2004. There will be a total of 20 sampling days and two staging days. This is a pilot study before a full study in 2005. In 2005 there will be six surveys conducted every 15 days from mid-April through mid-July. There will be 30 sampling days and two staging days. The cruises scheduled for 2005 shall be a unilateral option of the Government and is subject to the availability of funds. The Government will supply trawl net, doors and floats. Vessel requirements include: desired length of 20m (85 ft) but shorter vessels that meet other requirements will be considered; minimum continuous horsepower from the main engine of approximately 500 hp; minimum cruising speed of 15 km/hr (8 kts.) in low sea states; must be completely rigged for mid-water trawling; flush deck area for sampling equipment including an area (approximately 8 x 8 ft square) where a sampling table for working on catches and obtaining biological data can be set up. The remainder of the vessel requirements are listed in the Statement of Work. All responsible offers will be considered.
