SOURCES SOUGHT FOR ON RESEARCHING AND WRITING A HISTORICAL MANUSRIPT (AS OF 06 APRIL 2004) The HQ Air Force Security Forces Center (AFSFC) is gathering information regarding Researching and Writing A Historical Manuscript. This project shall involve the research and writing of an unclassified manuscript tentatively entitled ?U.S. Air Force: Security History, 1947 ? 2003. The majority of the text of this history shall be scholarly in its content. The end product shall be richly illustrated and shall include historical analysis of major events, trends and issues. We are seeking interested companies that are experienced historians with a background and knowledge of the history and heritage of the Air Police, Security Police, and Security Forcers career field of the United States Air Force. Interested companies shall hold at a minimum: 1) A graduate degree from an accredited college or university; 2) Have published (or have an publication) in the open literature a documented book-length interpretive and analytical narrative manuscript on U.S. military or aerospace history or three fully documented articles on those subjects in referenced academic journals; 3) Have knowledge of Air Force Security heritage and history, based in membership in or participation in work with the service; Interested parties shall be required to perform the following tasks: 1) Research and write a prologue to the historical manuscript; 2) Conduct oral history interviews of former key USAF security career field members; 3) Write an analytical epilogue to the manuscript; 4) Prepare appendixes; 5) Prepare a glossary of acronyms and abbreviations; a. Interested companies are requested to provide detailed information demonstrating their understanding of the work requirements identified above as well as their qualification, capabilities, experience and past performance history of such work. All submissions are limited to 20 pages or less. b. Contractor information shall include, but not be limited to, the Contractors name, address, point of contact, telephone number, fax number, and e-mail address. c. Contractor shall identify business size (HUBZone, 8a, small, disadvantaged, woman owned, veteran owned, veteran disabled, etc.). For purposes of this Request for Information (RFI), the SIC Code is 8999 and the corresponding NAICS code is 711510. Industry size standards are published by the Small Business Administration and are available via the Internet at http://www.sba.gov/size. d. Contractor shall identify company profile to include, but not be limited to, the number of employees, annual sales history, locations, security clearances, CAGE code, Duns number, tax identification number, etc. No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. If a solicitation is released it will be synopsized in Federal Business Opportunities (Fed Biz Opps). It is the interested parties responsibility to monitor Fed Biz Opps for the posting of any solicitation or synopsis. This synopsis is for a request for information only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government nor will the Government pay for information solicited. Responses should be received no later than 3:00 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time) on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 in order to be considered timely.
