Description
The U.S. Army ARDEC, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ is conducting a Market Survey to determine the potential capabilities of the optical vacuum coating industry to produce laser eye protection filters for a variety of small arm fire control magnifying optical systems. The filters will be mounted in threaded tubular assemblies; one end of the unit must interface with a specific optical sight, the other end must interface with a removable Anti Reflection Device (ARD) that is source controlled. This survey is for three (3) categories of laser filter assemblies: low power magnifying riflescopes with apertures between 28 and 34mm; high power riflescopes with apertures between 40 and 50mm; and large aperture observation spotting scopes between 60 and 70mm. A delivery rate estimate for filters, starting in CY05, is 600 per month that includes 200 of each of the above categories. The specification for the optical laser filter is Government classified at the SECRET level. A SECRET facility clearance will be required to manufacture these filters. Please respond to this survey with your ability to vacuum deposit thin film optical interference filter coatings, of many layers and narrow rejection bands, with ultra high tolerance thickness control and that remain stable and will not degrade in typical military environments. This market survey is for information and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. This is not a Request for Proposal and the Government will not reimburse costs for providing any information. Please submit your information to Kelly Nash at email address: kgerould@pica.army.mil. Please submit your information by May 7, 2004.
