- The 13th TACOM/Industry Logistics Symposium was held March 16-18, 2004. The theme was 'Logistics Strategies - Transforming to the Future Force'. The event was held at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Dearborn, Michigan. This year's TACOM sponsored sympo sium had a record attendance of close to 800 attendeees and exhibitors. It was also the first year the event was held at the Hyatt Regency hotel. The Michigan Chapter National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) provides administrative support in plann ing the event. The Department of the Army is transforming at an unprecedented rate. This transformation impacts every area of the Army including soldiers, equipment, training and warfare. It is a process that will transform the current armed forces to the future force. The transformation represents the future full spectrum force - organized, manned, equipped and trained to increase strategic responsiveness across the entire spectrum of military operations from major theater wars to homeland security. Repres entatives from the government and industry briefed on the logistical and technical support required to meet the Department of Defense vision and goals. The morning briefings and afternoon workshop briefings emphasized how the government and industry initia tives are delivering Materiel Readiness to the Army. The topics included: Logistics Support to Operation Iraqi Freedom from the soldier's perspective, Operation Iraqi Freedom Lessons Learned, Logistics Transformation, Lean Logistics, Improving Supply Chain Integration, Combat Service Support (CSS) Transformation/Modularity, RESET and the Army Transformation, the impact of Logistics Support to Homeland Defense, Reliability and Maintainability and the RDECOM Agile Development Center. The speakers also discuss ed the role of U.S. Joint Forces in Combat, Technology Development, the Future Combat Systems, Government and Industry Partnerships, Simulation Based Acquisition, Robotics and Water Technologies. The keynote speakers included: LTG Benjamin Griffin, Deputy Chief of Staff G8, MG Mitchell Stevenson, AMC G3, Ms. Kathy Cutler, Director of Acquisition, Technical and Supply, DLA, MG (ret) John Ryneska, US Joint Forces Command, J9 Assistant for Joint Deployment, Employment and Sustainment, Mr. Stephen Koons, Assi stant Deputy Chief of Staff, G4 (FORSCOM), Mr. Don Howe, GDLS Senior Director Stryker Program, COL James Rentz, Chief of the G4 Staff Initiatives Group, Mr. Paul Chiodo, Director, Quality Engineering and System Assurance (RDECOM-ARDEC), Mr. Eric Peltz, RA ND Corp.
