Description
The Government is soliciting input and participation from industry in an effort to develop specifications and standardized design guidance to enable portable code in the Signal Processing Subsystem (SPS). It is the Government??????s intent that this specification and design guidance be required on all upcoming JTRS development efforts. The Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) Joint Program Office (JPO) will be conducting an accelerated effort to develop specifications and/or associated design guidance enabling portable code in the Signal Processing Subsystem (i.e., Digital Signal Processor s (DSPs) and Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs)) associated with the JTRS. It is necessary to extend the JTRS waveform portability concept (e.g., the Software Communications Architecture (SCA) and associated design guidance) to address portability in the SPS environment. It is anticipated that this additional specification and standardized design guidance will be included as part of future versions of the SCA. Development of any specifications and standardized design guidance will be done with Indust ry participation. The Government??????s near term plan includes a Government/Industry Workshop (29-30 April in Arlington, VA), formation of a dedicated Government/Industry ??????tiger team?????? to develop a formal specification by late May, a comment resolution phase, and submittal to the SCA change control process in June. Additional areas of concern include standardized interfaces, validation activities and initial implementations, configuration control, and long term testing implications. The Government is requesting industry response of intent to participate in this Government/Industry accelerated effort to develop specifications and standardized design guidance enabling portable code in the SPS, level of commitment/resources, and willingn ess/commitment to propose existing approaches in open forum for consideration as basis for draft specification. The Government also requests draft material on industry proposed approaches to be briefed as a basis at the upcoming Industry/Government Worksh op The Government does not intend to provide any funding for participation in this effort. All data and information used in this forum is required to be non-proprietary with unlimited rights. Responses are due by COB 16 April 2004. The JTRS JPO point of contact is Ms. Jeannie Walker-Bridges, jeannie.walker-bridges@hqda.army.mil, 703-588-0520.
