Description
This solicitation is a total small business set-aside. The NAICS is 541380 with a size standard of $6 million. The solicitation will be processed in accordance with FAR Part 12, "Acquisition of Commercial Items. The safe drinking water act (SDWA) mandates the EPA to establish a list of unregulated microbiological and chemical contaminants to aid in priority setting for the Agency's drinking water program. This list is referred to as the Contaminant Candidate List ( CCL ). The CCL identifies contaminants which might be regulated by the EPA at some future date. The Treatment Technology Evaluation Branch (TTEB) within the Water Supply and Water Resources Division, NRMRL is conducting in-house research associated with chemicals on the CCL. The TTEB research project involves the evaluation of conventional water treatments for the removal of the CCL chemicals from drinking water. The contractor will analyze samples produced as part of this in-house research. Samples will primarily be drinking water, spiked with the analyte of interest, that has undergone drinking water treatment e.g., membrane filtration, coagulation or GAC filtration. The radiological analyses will be for background determinations of naturally occurring radium isotopes found in drinking water. These samples will be comprised of drinking water, pipe scales and filter media drawn from various drinking water systems. The following methods will be used: 515.1; 524.2; 508; 8270C; 8330; 525.2; 632; and 8321; The contract will include a base requirement of 750 samples with an option for up to 750 additional samples. Approximately 20-30 samples per week will be generated. Some weeks could have as many as 50, while some weeks may have none. Companies that submit a proposal must demonstrate EPA, State, NELAP, or similar certification. The solicitation will be issued about 4/22/04 and will be available electronically only at the following web site: http://www.epa.gov/oam/cinn_cmd/index.htm
