Description
Single station CNC drilling/routing machine for the production of high technology printed circuit boards; equipped with two air bearing spindles: 125,000 rpm drill/rout spindle and 180,000 rpm microdrill spindle. Also equipped with a CCD vision analysis system for optimizing the drill pattern to inner layer locations and for scaling drilling and routing programs, a workpiece surface mapping system for accurate controlled depth drilling and routing, and on-line accuracy monitoring to compensate for temperature effects and spindle mis-alignment. Machine features: granite base for stable operation; linear motor drives on all axes for fast, accurate positioning; spindle-to-table positioning accuracy of ? 0.00015 inch; drilling accuracy of ? 0.0008 inch; controlled depth drilling/routing to ? 0.0005 inch; table acceleration up to 2g with a maximum velocity of 1960 inches per minute. 1. Minimum work area of 20?x 24?. 2. Granite base for stable machine platform. 3. Dual air-bearing spindle configuration, each with independent ?X? and ?Z? axes: drill/rout spindle capable of 125 krpm maximum; microdrill spindle capable of 180 krpm. Only one spindle in operation at a time. 4. Drill/rout spindle drill bit size capability: 0.002 to 0.250 inch diameter with .125 inch common shank size. 5. Microdrill spindle drill bit size capability: from smallest drill bit available in the market (presently 0.002 inch diameter) to 0.250 inch diameter with .125 inch common shank size. 6. Linear motor drives on all axes except the drill/rout spindle ?Z? axis, which shall be a rotary ball screw with brushless AC servo motor. 7. CCD vision analysis system capable of analyzing inner layer locations, optimizing drill pattern for best fit to inner layers, and scaling of drill/rout programs. 8. Machine positioning accuracy of ? 0.00015 inch. 9. Machine drilling accuracy of ? 0.0008 inch. 10. Maximum noise level of 75 DbA or less. 11. Automatic tool management system with a minimum capacity of 72 ringless tools. 12. Ability to measure drill bit diameter, length, and dynamic runout. 13. Automatic broken drill bit detection for tool diameters from 0.002 to 0.250 inch diameter. 14. Topographical mapping of top surface of work piece to permit routing depths to within ? 0.001 inch of this surface. 15. Ability to control routing depth to ? 0.001 inch from top surface of work piece 16. Machine to be equipped with an Ethernet connection for downloading program files. 17. ?Soft? tooling plugs in work table to accommodate following Multiline positioning formats: 12? x 18?, 18? x 18?, 18? x 24?. 18. Ability to collect and statistically analyze inner layer registration data so that scaling factors can be developed to incorporate in multilayer PCB designs. 19. On-line accuracy monitoring to compensate for machine temperature drift or spindle mis-alignment. 20. Included power transformer to match BNL power supply to machine requirements. 21. Two sets of operation/maintenance manuals and backup software. 22. 24 hour service response during normal working hours for critical machine problems. 23. The Vendor is to provide a list of companies that are presently using this same type of single station, Driller/Router Machine. 24. The machine must be delivered to BNL by September 17, 2004.
