Description
The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute intends to negotiate on a non-competitive basis with The William Beaumont Hospital, 3601 West Thirteen Mile Road, Royal Oak, Michigan 48873. The William Beaumont Hospital, will continue to participate in a multi-center study along with the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, to study the genomics and proteomics of restenosis in patients undergoing cardiac stenting. The William Beaumont Hospital?s Technical Support Staff will enroll approximately 250 patients, collecting and processing blood samples, and conducting the follow-up of patients for the study. The genomics and proteomics analysis will be conducted at the Division of Intramural Research, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, National Institutes of Health. The period of performance of the study is July 2004 through July 2005. The sole source determination is based upon the continued participation of the research studies with, The William Beaumont Hospital Technical Support Staff. An award to any other source would effect the anticipated outcome of the on going research, and threaten the investment already made, and would not provide any cost savings to the Government. The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) Code is 622310 and the Size Standard is $29.0M. The acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition, commercial item procedures and is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6. This notice of Intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this requirement. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct future competitive procurement.
