Description
The U.S. Army RDECOM Acquisition Center-Natick has a requirement for the design, development and production of an Improved Marine Assault Climbers Kit (I-MACK). The system will have the following salient characteristics: The system shall incorporate the fewest number of components without sacrificing the performance capability of either hauling or climbing function; Components will include but are not limited to Alpine/Steep Earth Crampons, Axe (Ice/Walking), Ice Rope, Ice Hammer, Anchors, Snow Picke t, Deadmen, Ice Screw, Duckbill and Dirt Spectre etc.; The Contractor will assure that all items contained in the I-MACK system will be in accordance with the Union of International Alpine Association (UIAA), and approved to be used as protection or direct aid devices or that they meet the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1983 standards. A solicitation will be released on or about April 16, 2004, with proposals due 24 days after the release of the solicitation. The applicable North American Ind ustry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 422990. Firms will not be reimbursed for any costs associated with proposals. The Government intends to award a single Firm-Fixed-Price (FFP) Purchase Order for the design and development of the I-MACK. Delive rables will include the delivery of a report of the overall design of the kit and (1) I-MACK kit. The Government will also include an Option CLIN for the delivery of 7 I-MACK systems on the Purchase Order. This Option CLIN will not be evaluated at the tim e of the award. This Option CLIN may be exercised upon the contractor??????s successful completion of the development phase and after negotiation with the contractor. The solicitation will be posted to the US Army RDECOM-Natick Website at https://www3.nati ck.army.mil (Go to Business Opportunities, then to Upcoming Acquisitions), on or about April 16, 2004. When released, the solicitation, including all amendments, and applicable documents will only be available in electronic medium at the above referenced w eb page. Interested parties shall submit any comments, questions or inquires, concerning any of the documents in writing via e-mail to the Contract Specialist, Stephen S. Abate, at stephen.abate@us.army.mil no later than 11:00 a.m. (EST) on or before Apri l 30, 2004.
