- Description
- The United States Department of the Treasury, Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) intends to issue a solicitation to procure a United States Currency Packaging and Shrink Wrapping System. The Contractor shall be required to design and fabricate a system capable of meeting the specified requirements contained in the solicitation document. The Contractor shall also be required to provide materials and services for the delivery, installation, testing and start-up of the system as well as the submission of the associated technical data, training of BEP personnel in the operation and maintenance of the system and the initial supply of spare parts to meet the specified requirements. The following are a sample of the functional requirements of the required system: Accept the BEP-furnished currency (CashPak) as input products and produce output via a material handling devices and form-type shrink-wrapping equipment. The System shall be capable of producing at least 750 acceptable CashPaks per hour. The BEP anticipates issuing the subject solicitation on or before May 30, 2004 for a Firm Fixed-Priced Contract. A draft copy of the SOW is attached for your review and comment. Interested and qualified contractors shall be expended an opportunity to attend a site visit at the BEP facility in Washington, D.C., on May 5, 2004, in order to familiarize themselves with the facility and processes. To arrange for a site visit please contact the Contract Specialist, Carlton Brown, no later than Friday, April 30, 2004. Please note this site visit is limited to two people per company. Interested companies must submit the full name, email address, phone and fax numbers, and name of the company when requesting the visit. In order to make the site visit as productive as possible, interested parties are urged to submit any questions or comments regarding the draft SOW, in writing, no later than, Tuesday, April 27, 2004, So that answers may be formulated and provided the day of the site visit. Please be advised that upon arrival for a scheduled appointment, attendees will be required to enter through the 14th Street entrance of the BEP. Due to the strict security requirements, two forms of picture identification will be required for entry into the facility. Please allow sufficient time to check in through security. Interested parties are advised that the site visit will be held solely for the purpose of providing information about the BEP?s requirement and the closing date for receipt of proposals will be established in the request for proposal. Sources responding to this announcement will be placed on the BEP?s mailing list and will receive notification once the solicitation is posted on the Federal Business Opportunities Wes Site.
