Description
The contractor shall construct a pedestrian/bicycle bridge over the existing Murray Lock and Dam. The concrete and steel girder bridge will be nearly 3,500 feet long and will include more than 650 feet of mechanically stabilized earth wall. The bri dge will have a 14-foot clear width and be supported by single column piers. The bridge is designed to support two 36-inch steel water lines to be installed in the future. The vertical clearance will be 65-feet from upper pool two percent flow line to th e low superstructure. The bridge substructure will consist of single column piers constructed on the existing dam spillway structure on the north and south approaches to the dam. Two piers will be constructed with concrete shafts drilled through the slopi ng downstream face of dam non-overflow monoliths. The single column piers on the approaches to the dam will be supported on drilled shafts constructed in the powerhouse tailrace, and on either drilled shafts or piles with pile cap on the land based piers. The area is frequented by fishermen, boaters, bicyclists, runners , walkers and other recreational users. Precautions must be taken to protect members of the public from injury and to minimize interference with recreational use of adjacent properties. The MAGNITUDE is between $5,000,000.00 and $10,000,000.00 -- for a Fir m Fixed Price Contract -- project duration is approximately 700+ calendar days. The Standard Industrial Code is 1622 and the annual size standard is $17 million. The NAICS Code is 237310. This is an UNRESTRICTED procurement.
