Description
The National Cancer Insitute (NCI), Radiation Oncology Branch (ROB), Center for Cancer Research (CCR) intends to procure on a sole source basis with Axon Instruments, 3280 Whipple Road, Union City, California 94587 for the purchase of a GenePix 4000B Integrated Array Scanner and accessories. This procurement is being processed based on FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The North American Industry Classification System Code is 334516 and the business size standard is 500 employees. The ROB produces microarray chips and hybridization analysis for the ROB and CCR of the NCI. The CCR requires a high performance microarray imaging system which is capable of providing image acquisition and data analysis from all types of microarrays, including cDNA, oligonucleotides, proteins and tissues. Additional requirements of the microarray imaging scanner for the CCR consist of the ability of precision imaging with dual laser scanning technolgy and user-friendly microarray analysis software to accurately quantify signal-to-noise ratios from microarray images. Axon Instruments is the only source known to the NCI which can provide a microarray imaging system that is compatible with existing systems and is supported by the NCI Microarray Database Center. The NCI will be receiving a discount for trade-in of one of their existing scanners. This is not a notice for competitve quotations. However, if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirements, especially with regard to compatibility, it may submit a statement of capabilities. The capability statement and any other furnished information must be in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow NCI to determine if the party can fully meet the requirements. Capability statements must be received in the contracting office by 1:30 P.M. EDT (local Washington, D.C. time) on May 3, 2004.
