Description
DESC: The U.S. Army Research Development & Engineering Command (RDECOM) in Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, is conducting a worldwide market survey for technical information for chemical agent detection kits with capabilities similar to the U.S. M256A1 C hemical Agent Detector Kit. The selected detection kits will be used for testing against the M256A1 Kits requirements. The current M256A1 Kit is a portable, expendable item capable of detecting and identifying low hazardous concentrations of chemical agent s: Blister, Blood, and Nerve. In addition, the M256A1 Kit operating temperatures is between minus 32 degrees C and 49 degrees C. The producer of the M256A1 Kits Blister Spot filter paper will discontinue producing the paper in the future. The U.S. Army I ntegrated Product Team recommended that the selected detection kits should be evaluated to help resolve this issue without affecting the readiness of the troops. In order to prevent future readiness issues, the Army would like to pursue all available opti ons. Evaluating the kits that are similar to the M256A1 kit is an excellent option to resolve this issue. At this point the team is considering evaluating the following five detection kits: Detector Kit Chemical Agent Residual Vapor No. 1 Mk.1 (RVD), R.A.C ./83 Chemical Agent Detection Kit, Chemical Detection Kit (CDK), Semi-Automatic Chemical Agent Detector (SCAD), DETEHIT. It is anticipated that the testing effort and evaluation will take about 3 months. This market survey is for information and planning purposes only. No solicitation document exists. All interested firms, regardless of size, are encouraged to respond to th is request for information. Responses may be sent via email to minh.nguyen@us.army.mil, or khoa.nguyen@us.army.mil, Kyle.phillips5@us.army.mil.
