Description

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service intends to issue an award to the South Florida Water Management District Lab to analyze water samples collected at up to 40 FWS refuge sites. Sampling results funded under this procurement will support management related scientific investigations, litigation between the state and federal government, and regulatory requirements. South Florida Water Management District will also supply all header sheets, labels, bottles other supplies, and space needed for sample collection and processing by Fish & Wildlife personnel. Each month from May 2004-April 2006, the lab will analyze samples including ALKA, APA, CA, CL, COLOR, DOC, K, MG,NA, NH4, NO2, NOX, OPO4,SIO2, SO4, TDKN,TDP04,TDS,TKN,TOC,TPO4,TSS, AND TURB. Most existing refuge water quality data are maintained in the South Florida Water Management District database, DBHYDRO. Three parameters for each sample site will be calculated, including (1) Nitrite-N, (2) Hardness as CACO3, and (3) Alkalinity, TOT, CACO3. The QA/QC procedures will follow those used in the District's EVPA water quality project. THIS NOTICE IS NEITHER A REQUEST FOR QUOTATION NOR A SOLICITATION OF OFFERS. A determination not to compete this proposed contract has been made Pursuant to 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), as implemented by 6.302-1(b)(1)(i), this requirement has been justified and approved in accordance with FAR 6.303 and FAR 6.304.
