Description
Subject: Fixed Fire Detection and Fire Alarm Systems Information Request for Boat Marine Application Background: U.S. Navy 120-Foot Torpedo Weapons Retriever (TWR) Boats have a Halon 1301 firefighting system in the Engine Room that was installed during new construction of the boats between 1983 and 1985. The automatic sensing detection system is not supported at this time. The system can also be actuated manually. The existing control system is powered with 24VDC. The control system components includes a remote Engine Room Fire Control Panel on the Bridge Deck, Engine Room Junction Box for the fire detectors and alarm connections, visual and audible Engine Room evacuation alarms 30 seconds prior to Halon discharge, ventilation shutdown relay system, 12 flame detectors and Halon pressure switches in the Halon distribution piping near the bottles. Request: This is no t a request for purchase. We are seeking information on new technologies in automatic fire detection to evaluate for use to control Engine Room legacy marine firefighting system aboard subject boats. The system will be used in a Category A Machinery Space as defined in reference (a) (4-7-1/11.15). The Fixed Fire Detection and Fire Alarm Systems shall meet the requirements of reference (a) (4-7-2/1.13 & 4-7-3/11). We request that companies provide diagrams, component lists, function descriptions, point of contact, etc, for possible/recommended systems. We will determine if the proposed control system can replace or be integrated with the existing Halon 1301 system.
