Description

MIXING UTILITY, LIQUID VISCOMETRIC APPARATUS Description: Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) has developed a rheometer technology that allows for the application of uniform shear in the generation of foam emulsions operable for loads in the range of 0-1000 lbf. The resulting data obtained from this device and the methodology employed with the device can then be directly translated to determine the evolution of the sample viscosity as a function of the process variables and formulation. In addition, the device can be operated to determine the shear viscosity of fluids without the loss of sample or exposure to air. LANL is seeking a licensee or a joint-development partner to further develop this technology. Advantages: This device is readily mounted to conventional mechanical testing frames for operational use LANL device accommodates syringes of sample material from 10cc to 50cc and can be modified to accommodate even larger syringes The syringe assembly (sample container) of the LANL device may be removed and replaced from the rheometer rapidly No cleaning of the LANL device is required with replacement of a syringe assembly Status: A U.S. patent application has been filed on this technology.
