- Description
- The Tactical Technology Office (TTO) of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) solicited proposals for Phase I, Task 1 entitled Small Launch Vehicle (SLV) of the Force Application and Launch From Conus (FALCON) program on July 29, 2003 (BAA 03-35). FALCON, a three phase joint DARPA/Air Force program, is pursuing near term development and demonstration of responsive affordable small satellite launch capabilities, which can launch a 100 kilogram satellite into 100 nautical mile low Earth orbit (LEO) in less than 24 hours from alert status. Phase II, Task 1 awardees will also develop a Common Aero Vehicle (CAV) launch system in parallel with the small satellite launch system. DARPA anticipates releasing a Program Solicitation on a full and open competition basis for Phase II, Task 1 within the next 14 days. This special notice is not a request for proposals. See note number 22.
