Description

F-SINGLE SOURCE AWARD NOTICE - to CARGILL SALT Operation of Salt Pond System in Newark, CA, Request for Proposal 101814R018. This is a notice of intent to award a single source base with 4 option years, IDIQ, to Cargil Salt. Cargil Salt is in the process of donating their land with these salt pond systems that must be maintained to the US Fish and Wildlife Service. The purpose is to gradually turn these ponds back to a natural salinity concentration for wildlife habitat. Some of the ponds will have differing concentrations to continue to raise brine shimp which brings in a variety of birds. Cargill Salt has been operating this system of ponds (including maintenance of levees, pumps, water control structures, water levels, and salinity levels) since the early 1970's. They have the management structure and a staff with unique institutional knowledgeneeded to effectively and efficiently manage this sytem.
