Description

The proposed contract is for a sole source lease with Morehouse School of Medicine located in Atlanta, Georgia. The property sought is located at 1513 East Cleveland Avenue, East Point, Georgia. Located at this facility will be a Community Based Outpatient Clinic that will be operated in conjunction with Morehouse School of Medicine. The use of sole source selection on the proposed contract requirements is due to the vast resources that Morehouse School of Medicine has to offer in the treatment of Veteran patients and teaching opportunities for it?s students. The location will provide 10,000 square feet of clinical space next to a building that will have several access points to a building already occupied by Morehouse School of Medicine. The co-location of the VA CBOC with the Morehouse Medical Campus allows for increased flexibility regarding clinical coverage, teaching appointments, student teaching, joint research endeavors, and supplying Board Certified Attending physicians to the clinic. The location of the proposed lease space to the Morehouse School of Medicine will make it possible for the sharing of computerized medical records, preventive treatment methods, and easy transporting of veteran patients between the two facilities. Our requirements are that Morehouse School of Medicine will provide the clinic with medical students, Board Certified Attending physicians, be part of a clinical team, and provide general medical care to a cadre of eligible veterans at one convenient location for the veteran and the medical staff. Interested persons may identify their interest and capabilities to respond to the requirement listed above by May 10, 2004. However, all responses received within the time frames of this notice will be reviewed for the ability to supply our requirements, but does not obligate the government of change from a sole source requirement to a competitive requirement.
