Description

Contractor to provide geo-technical study to support installation of a 100 ft. Bailey Bridge over an entrance channel to the Crescent Harbor Marsh. The bridge capacity load is approximately 60 tons. The abutment structures will constructed of concrete and may require piling support depending on the findings of this report. Scope items are as follows: 1. Review existing information. Three shallow (approximately 20 feet) borings have been done in the immediate area. 2. Perform field exploration. One boring 50 to 70 feet at the bridge location should be sufficient. 3. Log the borehole during drilling. 4. Provide laboratory tests of soil samples taken at appropriate intervals. Design parameters for the abutment and piling, if required, should be developed. Information required, but not limited to, includes the following design parameters: a) Standard penetration tests b) Soil densities c) Active and passive soil pressures d) Bearing capacity e) Soil friction f) Friction angle of soil g) Cohesion h) Shear strength 5. Provide a brief report in 8-1/2 X 11 inch format with all applicable information.
