- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. The announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals/bids are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation is being issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ) #857709. The provisions and clauses incorporated are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 01-22. This solicitation is under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP), and a small business set a side. The NAICS code is 335999. The business size standard is 500 employees. This will be a Firm-Fixed Price Contract. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate on a sole source basic with Data Security Inc., 729 Q. Street, Lincoln, NE. Requirement: (5 Ea.) HD-6000 Degaussers. Specifications: 120 Volts, 60 Hz Degausser. Chamber must accommodate all disk drives and magnetic tape media up to 3.5 in. (89 mm) high by 6 in. (152 mm) wide by 10 in. (245 mm) deep. Effective degaussing field must be 6 in. (152 mm) square by 3.5 in. (89 mm) high. The degausser must meet DoD specifications for purging classified/sensitive information from hard disk media with coercivity ratings up to 3800 Oersteds including zip disks, jazz disks, one-third, one half and full height hard drives without removing the disk platters and magnetic tape media up to 2500 Oersteds. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit quotes. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, all quotes received within ten days after publication of this synopsis, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. SEE NOTE 22.
