- Description
- The U.S. Census Bureau anticipates issuing a competitive solicitation in the first quarter of Government Fiscal Year 2005 to acquire an Integrated Dissemination System (IDS) system that will serve as a single point for public access to all Census data (current and future) and data products. The primary goal(s) of this new IDS is to establish a single web information portal that will integrate the many diverse dissemination functions currently spread across multiple Census Bureau organizations and to provide the Census Bureau's continually expanding customer community with effective analytical capabilities and one-stop access to existing and new Census data resources. The Census Bureau expects to award this contract in the fourth quarter of Government Fiscal Year 2005. Information on this acquisition will be posted on the IDS web site at http://www.census.gov/procur/www/ids/ids.html. In preparation for this acquisition, the U.S. Census Bureau will host an Industry Day in Federal Building 3, Morris Hansen Auditorium, 4700 Silver Hill Road, Suitland, MD, 20476, from 1200-1500, Friday, May 21, 2004. The purpose of Industry Day is to begin dialog with the vendor community concerning this important Census Bureau initiative. The Government will provide information outlining the vision and goals of the new IDS, present a program overview, address the acquisition approach and timeline, and describe current Census Bureau data dissemination challenges. Government program and contract personnel will be available to respond to questions about the program and the planned acquisition. Additional information on Industry Day can be found on the IDS web site at http://www.census.gov/procur/www/ids/ids.html. An on-line registration form and agenda will be posted on the IDS web site. There is no cost for attending Industry Day and attendance is voluntary. It is requested that you complete the registration form no later than May 17, 2004. Meeting notes and Government presented materials will be posted on the IDS web site. Shortly after Industry Day, it is anticipated that the Government will post a schedule on the IDS web site for vendors to sign up for one-on-one sessions. These sessions will be an opportunity for vendors to provide ideas that address the data dissemination challenges presented at Industry Day. The sessions will take place approximately two to three weeks after the May 21, 2004 Industry Day. This announcement is for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a Request for Proposal (RFP) or an obligation on the part of the Government to acquire follow-on acquisition. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this announcement, or otherwise pay for information requested. The Government will not reimburse attendees for any costs associated with participation and is under no obligation to award any related contract associated with this event. Recording devices are prohibited at the forum. NO SOLICITATION DOCUMENT EXISTS AT THIS TIME.
