Description
The future of nuclear medicine depends on long term, uninterrupted availability of research isotopes on a routine and continuous basis at a reasonable cost. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) on behalf of the National Institutes of Health is conducting a market survey to identify potential sources of supply for research isotopes or radionuclides. Possible sources of supply include national laboratories, commercial sources, foreign sources and university sources. NIH estimates using the following types and quantities of isotopes through 2009: Amounts in Use / Projected Potential Use 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 177Lu 100 mCi 1525 3,025 10,025 50,025 100,025 225Ac 500 mCi 600 700(>1500)900(>1500) 1,700(>1500)6,000(>1500)1 124I 175 mCi 200 250 350 350 350 86Y 50 mCi 50 50 50 50 50 67Cu 20 mCi 1500002 150000 150000 150000 150000 1 The 213Bi trial(s) potentially could reach a multi-center stage and would require >1500 mCi of 225Ac ($1,700,000) per year. This is in addition to the projected amounts listed in the table. This does not take into account the possibility/probability of other possible clinical trails and additional amounts should be considered possible. 2 The amounts of 67Cu are based on the performance of two clinical trials for treating NHL with BMT support. This does not take into account the possibility/probability of other possible clinical trails and additional amounts should be considered possible. Please provide technical information to support your capability to supply isotopes by the type and at the quantities estimated. Responses should include the following: (1) name and address of firm, (2) type of business, source, and country of origin (3) points of contact ? name, title, phone, fax and e-mail, (4) experience and capability for producing isotopes (specifications of produced isotopes (those above) and projected specifications), (5) list of customers. Responses should be submitted via mail to the point of contact address below by June 16, 2004. E- mail responses can be submitted via e-mail to the Point of Contact, Elsa B. Carlton, ec39g@nih.gov. Please direct any questions via e-mail to either Elsa B. Carlton at ec39g@nih.gov or Victor S. Buyny at vb15g@nih.gov. THIS SYNOPSIS IS FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY AND IS NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS A COMMITMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION FOR PROPOSALS AND NO CONTRACT WILL BE AWARDED FROM THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. NO REIMPURSEMENT WILL BE MADE FOR ANY COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH PROVIDING INFORMATION IN RESPONSE TO THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. RESPONDENTS WILL NOT BE NOTIFIED OF THE RESULTS OF THE EVALUATION. THE CLOSING DATE FOR RESPONSES IS JUNE 16, 2004. Points of Contact, Elsa B. Carlton, Contracting Officer, phone 301-435-3811 or Victor S.
