- The United States Section of the International Boundary and Water Commission (USIBWC) is seeking to make a single award to a contractor to furnish six each of a 6 piece Caliper Disc Brake Assembly complete with one 1 5/8 inch bore and KW, and 90 VDC Coil (Spring-set/Electric Release) or equivalent. The disc brakes are required to hold dam spillway gates locked in any position; closed, open or any position in between. The caliper disc brake system must include flexible coupling and be compatible with existing gear box and motor design. The gear box shaft is 1 and ½ “ diameter and the motor shaft is 1 and 5/8” Diameter and uses Sier-Bath Coupler model 1 and ½ “ maximum bore 1 and 5/8” and must operate in series with DC motors. The arm design should allow for axial movement. Brakes must be electrically released and spring applied. The brakes should have adjustable torque between 75 and 200 lbs., and must have wear adjustment. In addition, the brake assembly must conform to the newest AISE Brake Standards. The Caliper Disc Brake Assembly will be used to prevent movement of the gate if not locked and will also allow the capability to respond to flood emergencies and irrigation requests safely. The brake assembly will also prevent seepage. This equipment will be used at the USIBWC Falcon Heights Power Plant located at B-1 Reservior Rd., Falcon Heights, TX 78545. Estimated issuance date of RFQ IBM04Q0011 is May 20, 2004 and responses are to be received by 5:00 p.m. MDST on May 27, 2004.
