Description
The United States Army has a need for a high energy, low vulnerability, and flat temperature profile large caliber propulsion system in support of the MCS Ammunition Systems Technology STO development work at the RDECOM-ARDEC. A propulsion system with the following characteristics is needed in order to meet specific performance requirements: (1) A flat temperature profile (horizontal slope), or consistent velocity across all temperatures. (2) An impetus level greater than or equal to 1150 J/g. (3) A flame temperature less than or equal to 3450K. (4) A charge loading density greater than or equal to 0.99 g/cc. (5) Vulnerability and sensitivity characteristics (mechanical property) no worse than currently fielded U.S. gun propellants such as JA2. Manufacturing operations must be capable of supporting deliverables on the order of 1,000 to 2,500 kg per year from FY05 through FY07 and greater quanntities beyond FY07. The interested party is to submit (1) performance characteristics and mechanical properties, (2) information, if available, on full scale testing data firing with long penetration rods, (3) statement of current propellant manufacturing capabilities, a description of their experience with propellant, and an analysis to identify any additional skills, equipment, and/or technologies that are required in order to produce the propellant quantities noted above. Any additional data characterizing the propulsion concept such as sensitivity, vulnerability, hazard/safety, or gun test data may be submitted. Include a detailed plan, propellant cost data and schedule of how these additional capabilities will be developed or obtained. Please email information to cyanavok@pica.army.mil or mail to: U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC, AMSTA-AQ-APB, Bldg. 10, Attention: Carol Yanavok, Picatinny Arsenal, N.J. 07806-5000 or phone 973-724-3365 with any concerns. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO WWW.FEDBIZOPPS.GOV ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (06-MAY-2004); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE.
