- Description
- This amendment is hereby issued to address technical questions. 1) An oversized pump on a high vacuum system will not benefit the Government. Leaks in the system will not be able to be detected, since the pump will easily keep up with any leaks in the vacuum system. The system will appear to be leak tight because the vacuum gauge indicates the vacuum pressure is in the required range, but only because the over sized pump is keeping up with the leaks. 2) The over size pump will require an over sized backing pump to keep up with the oversized turbo pump (4X). This is a rather large additional expenditure. 3) A larger adapter is also an unnecessary additional expenditure. 4) Space is very limited in this particular application, so additional modifications to the vacuum system would be required to accommodate the larger capacity pump.
