- Description
- The United States Air Force Academy intends to award a contract on a sole source basis under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 6.302, FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items, and FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures, to JEOL Corporation, 11 Dearborn Road, PO Box 6043, Peabody MA 01961-6043. The Governments requirement is to purchase an electron-scanning microscope for the Mechanical Engineering Department that will be identical to the system that is in place in the Biology Department. This is the JSM-6460L V/Standard Electron Microscope with 5 axis motorized and automated computer controlled eucentric tilt stage with the speed linked to magnification; GW-IRCS-PIP infrared chamber scope with 12 inch sample chamber; NECLCD1880SX; LK-IE400 Oxford Inca Energy System; LK-L818 System table; LK-L345 Interface Sytem; RO33SP/W Water Recirculator. This redundancy will provide the Academy with the ability to continue research on either system without dissimilar operating specifications, operating procedures and maintenance requirements. Interested sources may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, the Government will consider all proposals received within 20 days after date of publication of this synopsis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
