- This sources-sought synopsis is issued in anticipation of a potential future procurement program. The Naval Sea Systems Command is conducting market research to determine the existence of an armored riverine troop carrier type craft possessing the following general design characteristics: Propulsion, inboard diesel Jet drive (or equivalent). 30 knots (minimum) burst speed. 18 inch to 22 inch draft (maximum) at full load. 36 foot length (approximate). 13 foot beam (approximate). 4 to 5 weapon stations to interchangeably accommodate a 7.62 mm .or 50 caliber machine gun, or a 40 MM, MK-19 grenade launcher type weapon. Armored engine compartment, troop well, and helmsman station (to withstand 7.62 round point blank) armoring materials optional. Overhead canopy. Accommodate a 4 to 5 person crew, plus seating for 6 to 8 combat equipped troops. Hoisting weight of 30,000 pounds (approximate). Rapid off load capability for troops. It is anticipated that approximately 5-10 craft may be procured, with the total quantity to be delivered FOB origin between approximately (6) and (24) months after contract award. These numbers and delivery schedule are subject to change. Prospective firms are encouraged to submit a capability summary that does not exceed five (5) pages in length describing their riverine craft and firm's recent relevant business experience and their approach in meeting the requirements stated above. Responses should include: (a) The name and address of the contractor and where such boats would be built; (b) Point of contact including name, title, phone, and email addresses; (c) A description of craft currently offered by the contractor that meet, or with minor modifications might meet, the above listed requir ements to include contract and customer information regarding the "parent" craft; (d) An estimated unit price, and (e) Whether the business is currently classified as a Large, Small, Small Disadvantaged, 8(a) and/or Woman Owned company, Hub Zone small business, veteran owned small business, or service disabled veteran owned small business.
