Description

The Naval Air Systems Command intends to award a sole source firm fixed price contract to Vision Systems International (VSI), San Jose, CA for Phase III development of the Night Vision Cueing and Display (NVCD) capabilities modification of, and integration to, Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System (JHMCS) in support of F/A-18 aircraft. The NVCD is a 40-degree field of view night vision capability with integrated JHMCS cueing and display. The NVCD capability will enhance situational awareness for all night patrol, air-to-air and air-to-ground missions. The intent of Phase III NVCD is to complete NVCD development and design, provide four hardware prototypes for safety of flight tests and developmental test and evaluation, and logistics support planning. VSI is the sole designer, developer and supplier of the JHMCS, and as such, the only known source with the required technical expertise and data to meet this need, pursuant to Title 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1).
