Description

The Department of Commerce/NOAA/National Marine Fisheries Service intends to negotiation on a non-completive basis with the University of North Carolina at Wilmington National Undersea Research Center, Wilmington, North Carolina to provide habitat and all associated operations including aquanaut training for an undersea research mission. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the national undersea Research Center (NURC) plan a joint underwater mission to utilize the ?Aquarius? habitat as an analog for spaceflight and long-duration space habitation to support the NEEMO program. Multiple directorates at JSC will work together with the NURC/UNCW to accomplish the mission. Many objectives are achieved such as techniques for operating in extreme environments, Biomedical Engineering and Research, behavioral and physiological science, crew and mission controller techniques, and leadership and interpersonal skills training for the astronauts/aquanauts. All offerors capable of satisfying this requirement are invited to submit proposal information as to their capabilities by the required due date, July 18, 2003. Note 22.
