Description

The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Medical Center, Cleveland intends to negotiate a commercial (FAR Part 12) Sole Source contract under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. The VA is planning to procure a furniture system especially designed to provide a Learning Exchange environment which is used for strategic planning, facility redesign, new service creation, high performance employee development and cultural change. All components of the furniture system are completely mobile and able to be fully broken down, moved, and reconfigured at a moments notice. The design of the furniture is such that it facilitates the learning environment. The existence of limited rights in data, patent rights, and copyrights is the authority for sole source justification; therefore, it is the belief of the VA that there is currently one responsible source capable of providing this type of learning system to satisfy the agency requirement. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTATIONS. A determination by the VA not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the VA. Information received will be considered only for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Applicable NAICS code is 421210. Inquiries will only be accepted in writing by E-mail addressed to nancy.phares@med.va.gov or by fax 440-838-6073 and must be received not later than 4:30 p.m. on June 8, 2004.
