Description

The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), an agency of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), is mandated through the Rural Development Act of 1972, the Soil and Water resources Conservation Act of 1977, and other supporting legislation) to assess the status, condition, and trends of soil, water, and related resources on the nation?s non-federal lands. Resources inventory legislative authorities, NRCS policy, and responsibilities for conducting the Natural Resources Inventory (NRI), are contained in NRCS General Manual 290, Part 400. In order to accomplish this task, NRCS intends to award one or more contracts that require the successful contractor(s) to collect rangeland resources data on selected sample sites (points) for the 2004 National Resources Inventory, Rangeland Field Study in the state of Utah. Options may be exercised for 2005 and 2006. The Contractor(s) shall furnish the necessary personnel, material, equipment, services and facilities, except as otherwise specified, to perform the effort described below. Documentation guidance for implementing this contract is outlined in Paragraph N. Reference Materials. There are approximately 90 inventory sites scattered throughout Utah selected for data collection. The sites are clustered together to some extent to help reduce travel time and costs. Each inventory site is called a Primary Sample Unit (PSU) and is about 640 acres in size. Each PSU has two sample points upon which data are to be collected. Data are to be collected by data collection teams consisting of two or more members. Each team shall include an assigned NRCS Team Leader and one or more Data Collectors.

Address: The Division of the workload shall be as follows: One team for Rich, Morgan, Summit, Dagget, and Uintah counties; One team for San Juan, Kane, Garfield and Beaver Counties and One team for Miolard, Iron, and Washington Counties.
