Description
REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST - UPGRADE OF A 40-TON BRIDGE CRANE AT THE IDAHO NATIONAL ENGINEERING AND ENVIRONMENTAL LABORATORY ? Bechtel BWXT Idaho, LLC (BBWI), Management and Operating Contractor of the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL), is requesting an expression of interest from companies to provide upgrade services for a 40-ton bridge crane at the INEEL. Specific services would include, but not be limited to: upgrading the existing trolley to eliminate single-point failure (according to NUREG-0554 ?Single-Failure Proof Cranes for Nuclear Power Plants? and NUREG-612 ?Control of Heavy Loads at Nuclear Power Plants?), providing independent drum brakes, providing a redundant reeving system, providing a failure-mitigating equalizing system, providing a two-block protection system, providing a load hang-up and overload protection system, providing a mis-reeving detection system, providing redundant load limit switches on upper and lower travel, providing overspeed limit switches, providing new hoist rope and load blocks, and providing a new control system. These services may be performed in clean and/or contaminated facilities and must comply with all applicable safety and health requirements. BBWI anticipates establishing a firm fixed price Contract with one or more vendors for the services required after release of a formal Request for Proposal (RFP) is conducted. SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS - Prospective suppliersmust provide a written response to address the following: 1) a description of capabilities related to performing the work, 2) listing of clients along with a point of contact where similar services are/were provided, 3) safety and health program description, 4) demonstrated familiarity with applicable Department of Energy requirements, and 5) name, phone number and email of a company representative who may be contacted for information purposes.
