Description
This is not a solicitation announcement; this is a sources sought synopsis. Two copies of the responses to this sources sought synopsis may be faxed to (912) 652-5819, to the attention of Jason O??????Kane, or mailed to US Army Corps of Engineers, S avannah District, Attn: CESAS-PM-CM, Jason O??????Kane, P.O. Box 889, Savannah, GA 31402-0889, or e-mailed to jason.d.okane@sas02.usace.army.mil. Responses to this sources sought synopsis will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decis ions. After review of the responses to this sources sought synopsis, and if the Government still plans to proceed with the acquisition, a solicitation announcement will be published. No solicitation is currently available. All interested offerors will ha ve to respond to the solicitation announcement at a later time. Work consists of the removal of sediment from the Magnetic Silencing Facility and returning it to specified depth. Accurate positioning will be required for dredging the Magnetic Silencing F acility (MSF) slip or area. Very expensive underwater sensors are located both inside and outside the slip and accessibility is limited. Dredging will be required inside the facility. No dredging shall be allowed within 80 feet of the outside of the sl ip. Any dredging that is performed in the MSF area will also require a detailed log containing all locations and depths where any spuds were put down and the locations where any anchors were deployed, and a signed drawing from the leverman showing the arc s of the swing of the dredge when closest to any sensor tube or cable in the MSF area. This drawing is to be accompanied by a copy of the cutterhead track plot. No spuds or anchors will be dropped inside the slip. The 18 pairs of mats and cables are not to be disturbed or damaged in any way by the dredging operation. The Contractor shall leave no magnetic materials in the slip. Diving may be required to ensure that the Contractor does not damage concrete mats or sensor tubes inside the MSF and to ensur e that shoal material is removed. Diving operations shall conform to the requirements stated in the current U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Health Requirement Manual. Drawings will be provided showing where dredging spuds, submerged pipelines or anchors will not be allowed in order to prevent damage to the sensor tubes, sensor cables, and sensors. The slip is 88 feet between the pilings and 725 feet in length. The work will take place at Kings Bay Navy Submarine Base, Kings Bay, Georgia. Dredge depth will be 44?????? which shall require the removal of 5,500-7,500 cubic yards of material that will be pumped to diked upland disposal areas approximately 3-5 miles away. Estimated cost range is $500,000.00 to $1,000,000.00. Responses must include t he following additional information; company name, point of contract, phone number, address, large or small business, and related experience summary not to exceed one page that includes customer contact information to verify customer satisfaction. If you are a small business, please include certification for the following - HUBZone certified, woman-owned small business, 8(a) certified, or a veteran-owned or service-disabled veteran owned small business. Responses must be received no later than 4:30 Easte rn Daylight Time on 16 June, 2004. This notice is to assist the Savannah District Corps of Engineers in determining potential sources only. This sources sought synopsis is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government pay f or the information solicited.
