Description

The USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) Sugarcane Field Station, Canal Point, FL, requires a GV 2003 IRMS mass spectrometer for its research. For this acquisition, ARS intends to negotiate on a sole-source basis with Elementar Americas, Inc., of Mt. Laurel, NJ. Personnel at the Sugarcane Field Station have determined that the spectrometer hardware must be fully compatible with the existing Vario Max C/N Elementar Analyzer hardware; the mass spectrometer software must fully integrate with the existing Elementar Analyzer software; it must operate sequentially with the Elementar Analyzer and must not void the warranty of the existing Analyzer. This is the only known spectrometer that will satisfy these requirements. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, the Government will consider all responses received within 15 days of publication of this synopsis. Therefore, interested persons may identify their capability and respond to the requirement no later than 2:00 p.m. EST on June 18, 2004, to Pat Jones, fax number (706) 546-3444. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The NAICS code for this procurement is 334516.
